Panel Data Representation

There is a particular way of representing the panel data for analyzing in STATA and EViews. Irrespective of the number of variables or cross sections, the data needs to be formatted in a typical way.

Following is the generalized structure of a panel dataset, which can be analyzed in STATA and EViews:

Cross SectionCross Section IDTime SeriesVariable 1Variable 2Variable 3Variable 4
Cross Section 1Cross Section ID 1Time Period 1Value #Value #Value #Value #
Cross Section 1Cross Section ID 1Time Period 2Value #Value #Value #Value #
Cross Section 1Cross Section ID 1Time Period 3Value #Value #Value #Value #
Cross Section 2Cross Section ID 2Time Period 1Value #Value #Value #Value #
Cross Section 2Cross Section ID 2Time Period 2Value #Value #Value #Value #
